It's inevitable that the unprecedented FIFA corruption scandal wouldn't escape Twitter

Sepp Blatter may have beaten Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein to the FIFA presidency and secured himself a fifth term at the helm of football’s governing body – but the U.S. Justice Department’s investigation into the alleged bribes will rumble on.
Powerful officials from FIFA are accused of taking bribes of more than $150 million, all of which took place under Blatter’s watch – although he is yet to be questioned by the FBI or Swiss authorities over the allegations.
But there’s another area that this unprecedented scandal cannot escape: the imaginations running wild on Twitter.
Dr Jack and Curtis of Africartoons.com incorporated a controversial aspect of the sport.
The New Yorker drew similarities with football and other less favorable activities.
Some illustrated an ugly side to the so-called beautiful game.
And manipulated the coveted World Cup trophy with a hidden message.
It’s inevitable that current FIFA President Sepp Blatter would not escape unscathed.
Blatter is not one of those arrested or facing charges by U.S. authorities, but he was among those investigated. Although, Blatter has said in a statement that FIFA welcomes the investigation, he wouldn’t be so open to receiving these caricatures.
Unfortunately, old photographs are resurfacing and doing the rounds too.
Others chose to hint, quite candidly, at more serious issues at play.
Let’s not forget traditional print media that are exercising their own right to artistic license.
As the investigations continue, a lot of questions are still being asked. But we can always trust Twitter to brazenly answer them too.
