2016 Super Bowl 50: Live Score, Highlights for Broncos vs. Panthers
February 7, 2016The Denver Broncos defense was the best in the NFL this season, which made it no surprise it was the key to a 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.
Von Miller took home the MVP award after totaling 2.5 sacks and two forced fumbles, both of which led to Broncos touchdowns. By the end of the night, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was sacked six times and the league's No. 1 scoring offense was held to just 10 points in the loss.
Peyton Manning finished with just 141 passing yards, but it was enough to win his second career Super Bowl while becoming the first quarterback ever to win with two different teams. If this was his final game in the NFL, it was quite a way to go out.
On the other side of the ball, Newton had 265 passing yards and 45 rushing yards but managed just a 55.4 quarterback rating. The league's Most Valuable Player during the season will certainly have better days in the future, but he simply couldn't get anything going against this Broncos defense.
There were plenty of question marks surrounding Denver and whether it could produce enough offense to win a title. However, the defense was good enough on its own to bring another Lombardi Trophy to the Mile High City.
