In a new New York poll, Trump is leading the GOP field with 55% support
Clinton is leading Bernie Sanders 53%-40%, according to the survey
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton are maintaining their leads over their opponents in New York, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday.
Trump is leading the Republican field with 55% support, followed by John Kasich with 20% support and Ted Cruz with 19%, according to the poll. Clinton is leading Bernie Sanders 53%-40%, according to the poll.
Both Trump and Clinton have broad support from various groups of likely voters, with Trump winning almost every demographic group. Clinton is losing to Sanders among young voters and “very liberal” voters, but more than makes up for it with a 65%-28% lead among black voters.
The poll is similar to other findings which have seen Clinton maintaining a double-digit lead over Sanders and Trump consistently above the 50% threshold he would have to clear to win all the state’s delegates.
New York voters go to the polls April 19.
Quinnipiac pollsters surveyed 550 likely Republican voters from April 6-11, with a margin of error of +/- 4.2 percentage points. They also surveyed 860 likely Democratic voters during that time, with a margin of error of +/- 3.3 percentage points.
