Washington CNN  —

Bill Clinton’s half-brother Roger Clinton was arrested Sunday night in Redondo Beach, California, and charged with driving under the influence, according to local police.

The arrest came two days before Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, will compete in the state’s primary.

Redondo Beach Police arrested Roger Clinton shortly after 8 p.m. local time Sunday and his bail was set at $15,000, according to a filing online. TMZ first reported the arrest early Monday morning.

Lieutenant RBPD Joe Hoffman confirmed Clinton’s identity to CNN on Monday.

Clinton was “evaluated for driving under the influence of alcohol, which included the performance of field sobriety tests, and subsequently placed under arrest,” Hoffman said in a statement. “Clinton was transported to the Redondo Beach jail where he refused all chemical testing and was booked for suspicion of driving under the influence.” Hoffman said as of Monday, Clinton posted bail and was released from custody. He is scheduled to appear in Torrance, California, court on September 2.

CNN has reached out to the Clinton campaign for comment.

Bill Clinton pardoned his half-brother in 2001, shortly before leaving office, for a 1985 cocaine chargea move which drew an investigation from House Republicans, led by then-House Government Reform Chairman Dan Burton of Indiana.
