John Krasinski is Jack Ryan.

Amazon announced today that it gave the green light to a series based on Tom Clancy’s popular fictional character, Jack Ryan. Krasinski will star as the CIA hero with a modern spin.

“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” Roy Price, Head of Amazon Studios said in a statement. “Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

The 10-episode series will follow Ryan as he goes off on a dangerous field assignment dealing with terrorism that “threatens destruction on a global scale.”

“Jack Ryan” will be executive produced by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Andrew Dorm, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross, Mace Neufeld and Lindsey Springer.

This is far from the first time this story has been adapted for audiences. Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine have all played the popular role on screen.

The show builds on the trend of movie-to-TV adaptations. But they aren’t always a hit.

CBS premiered “Rush Hour” in March of 2016 based on the popular franchise starring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan, but it was canceled after just one season. “Limitless,” based on the 2011 film of the same name, aired in September of 2015 but it also got the boot.

Still, this hasn’t stopped networks from trying. Fox’s “Lethal Weapon” is set to make a splash this September and it’s getting good buzz. Meanwhile, “Bates Motel” on A&E, based on Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 thriller, “Psycho” has been running strong for four seasons. Although, it was announced at Comic-Con that the upcoming fifth season will be its last.
