Shad Moss, aka Bow Wow, says he's retiring at 29

"Retirement only means that it is time for a new adventure," he says

CNN  —

Shad Moss was 13 years old in 2000 when he released his first album as rapper Lil’ Bow Wow.

Today he is the ripe old age of 29, and the musician – now known as just Bow Wow – is announcing his retirement.

The Internet is amused.

“Bow Wow officially retires from rap, but he was irrelevant for so long it was a given that he was retired,” one person tweeted.

Ouch.

It all started Saturday when Moss posted on Instagram, “My last album will be Executive Produced by my uncle Snoop and myself. Since he brought me in the game, its only right i involve him and end it with him.”

Snoop Dogg is not really Moss’ uncle, although he did help boost the rapper’s early career and appeared on his first album.

“Retirement only means that it is time for a new adventure” over 10 million sold,” said Moss’s caption on another Instagram photo. “This the last one. THANK YOU for the musical journey!”

Twitter immediately went in on Moss, who is also an actor and last appeared as Brody Nelson on “CSI: Cyber.”

“Has he been rapping?” one Twitter user asked.

The entertainer took the comments in stride, tweeting, “Its a blessing to have made millions and can retire before 30. I mean im extremely happy.”
