At Austria’s Stubai Glacier this week, snowboarder Anna Gasser went where no female athlete has gone before.

Gasser, a big air gold medalist at the Winter Olympics earlier this year, became the first woman ever to execute a cab triple 1260.

That means taking off in the switch position – the opposite direction of travel with your “wrong” foot forward – before completing three-and-a-half full rotations.

It was just four years ago that Katie Ormerod landed the first ever double cork, but Gasser said she had the triple on her trick-list.

“The take-off was in perfect condition, I had a lot of pop and felt in control in the air – so I just decided to go for it,” Gasser told Red Bull.

“In the end I did it on the first try and I am super stoked everything worked out so early in the season.

“Today it just felt right and I am happy I ticked that one off my list.”

Gasser, who turned 27 in August, also has two Winter X Games titles to her name in slopestyle and big air, as well as a world championship title in big air from 2017.

At PyeongChang 2018, the Austrian beat USA’s Jamie Anderson to gold in the first ever women’s Olympic big air event.
